About me. What I do. Is counselling for you?
My name is Sandra and I am a qualified Counsellor by Metanoia Institute and Register member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As counsellor I offer excellent communication skills to listen to you and to reflect on your thoughts in a compassionate, warm and sensitive manner.
I am a psychotherapist in training, currently in my last year of MSc in Contemporary person-centred psychotherapy and applications, currently working in my dissertation year.
My experience: Counselling since August 2014 in an IAPT service in Hammersmith (WLCC) and also working in my private practice since January 2018.
My approach: Person-centred. What is this? What is counselling? and how do I work?
The Person Centred Approach is a thriving practice and has always been ‘radical’, as it opposed power inequalities between counsellor and client... what does this mean? That you will be with me in a safe and non-judgemental environment, in which you will be accepted in such way that you will be able to see your potentiality and I will help you to reach it.
An initial assessment is always necessary and helpful to make sure that you are given counselling to suit you. We will develop a therapeutic and collaborative working relationship based in confidentiality, trust and respect.
The desire outcome: You will be able to identify, understand and overcome what is hurting and feel what is healing.
My responsibility: I will work with you, alongside you, in a holistic and insightful way to enable you to consider change, develop a greater and deeper awareness of yourself.
Something to consider:
Counselling is a process, it takes you from a place of incongruence where something or somethings don't quite fit or make sense or bother you and don't allow you to feel content or in peace with yourself or your work or with others, to a much clear context in you life. But it is a process, and this process might be easy but there might be bumps in the road to the end of it.
If you feel that you have reached a point in your life where you feel ready for change, this is your time.
Consider the work that is required when going to physiotherapy, well, this is psychotherapy so some work needs to be done inside of you and this takes time and effort. You can do it.
